Today I am sharing an idea with you so simple and so eye-catching that you will hardly be able to resist adding this link to the rest of the bookmarks in your browser! 😂 Better still, I suggest not only bookmarking it but trying it today, because it is not just as simple as 2×2 but also unbelievably quick to put together. Getting ready for the big holidays of the year is always a real challenge for me and my family – every year we run out of new ideas that might surprise the relatives sitting round the table, never mind my poor grandmother, who starts cooking almost a week before the holidays.. So let's do ourselves a favour and choose dishes that are kind to our time, and that bring both cosiness and a festive mood.🎅

Mozzarella Penguins with Parma Ham

In short, hooray for the Christmas spirit!! Hooray for tangerines on offer at the supermarket, hooray for the town Christmas tree in the Town Hall square, for the choirs singing carols on Laisvės alėja, for the twinkling of lights in other people's houses that I notice every evening standing at the window with a cup of tea, hooray even for „Home Alone” showing for the thousandth time. And now grab a knife and some toothpicks and off to the kitchen! 🔪

Coming back to the penguins, I wanted to stress that making them takes just 4 ingredients and a few toothpicks, and the result is fantastic. Below you will find photos showing step by step how to make these snacks, and more precise information is set out in the recipe box. Good luck, and have a lovely holiday!

Mozzarella Penguins with Parma Ham

Ingredients

Mini mozzarella balls
Pitted black olives
Carrots
Parma ham
Toothpicks

Instructions

Slice a medium-thick carrot into rounds a few millimetres thick. Cut a triangular notch out of each round (see picture 1) and set both the cut-out triangles and the rounds aside.
Cut into the pitted olives a little more than halfway (but not too far, or they will split!). Cut from the side the stone was removed through (see picture 2).
Sit the cut olives onto the mozzarella balls (see picture 3), and push the carrot triangles into the whole olives (into the little hole on the opposite side to the one shown in picture 2)
Skewer the head with a toothpick (see picture 4)
Then skewer the mozzarella ball with its olive (see picture 5)
Finally, skewer the carrot round (see picture 6)
To finish, cut the Parma ham into very thin strips and wrap them around the penguins so they look like little scarves.
